Hangar at the Speyer site
Speyer airfield is making economic progress: not only has the operating company’s loss recently fallen significantly to less than 400,000 euros in 2017 (we reported). A hangar for business aircraft with jet engines (jets) was also recently built at the airfield. The construction of further new hangars is planned. In addition, the largest charter airline based at the airfield, Silver Cloud Air GmbH, is expanding its fleet. Managing Director Tanja Sauer said on request that she had purchased a business jet for up to nine passengers a few days ago, bringing the Silver Cloud fleet to five aircraft. “We expect to receive two more jets from investors in the summer, which we will operate as charter aircraft for them,” she said. In the medium term, Sauer is planning to build a hangar for up to four aircraft. If the demand from business people and celebrities for charter flights continues to increase, the four parking spaces in the hangar rented by Silver Cloud will no longer be sufficient. The company’s shareholders are Michael Sauer (66 percent), the Managing Director’s father, and the Schifferstadt-based construction company Heberger.
